Objectives
of the Concerned Alumni
- THAT USNAAA encourage all candidates for elected office within the
Association to publish in Shipmate and on the USNAAA website a biography
and platform of his/her goals and objectives in seeking elected office
and that the USNAAA Bylaws be revised to include this requirement.
- THAT minutes of USNAAA Board of Trustees meetings be published on
the USNAAA website and in Shipmate immediately following the meeting
and maintained on the website until the next meeting minutes are posted
and that USNAAA Bylaws be revised to include this requirement.
- THAT the agenda for upcoming Board of Trustees meetings be published
on the USNAAA website a month in advance of the meeting and that USNAAA
Bylaws be revised to include this requirement.
- THAT Shipmate editorial policy be adjusted to accommodate all responsible
viewpoints on important USNA and USNAAA matters.
- THAT USNAAA and Naval Academy Foundation (NAF) jointly develop and
publish on their respective websites and in Shipmate a clear and unambiguous
statement of intent for the use of all non-appropriated funds collected.
- THAT USNAAA and NAF jointly publish a detailed summary of the expenditures
of non-appropriated funds in the previous calendar/fiscal year to be
published on both websites and in Shipmate. The USNAAA and NAF Bylaws
should be revised to include this requirement.
- THAT USNAAA and NAF develop separate and distinct webpage presences.
- THAT both USNAAA and NAF publish audited financial statements
for their operations as of the end of each fiscal/calendar year. Statements
should consist of a minimum of: Income and Expense Statement, Balance
Sheet, Sources and Uses of Funds, and Cash Flow Summary. These should
be published no later than 3 months after the completion of each fiscal/calendar
year. The USNAAA and NAF Bylaws must be revised to include this requirement.
- THAT USNAAA conduct periodic surveys of the alumni-at-large on issues
of importance to the Naval Academy and the naval services and publish
the results of the survey in the form of a USNAAA position paper on
the USNAAA website and in Shipmate. The USNAAA Bylaws should be revised
to include this requirement.
- THAT USNAAA provide improved member services, including more detailed
and more frequently updated alumni records, an annual free copy of the
Alumni Register, and an improved database to further facilitate member
access to historical and member information.
- THAT the Concerned Alumni develop and periodically publish position
papers on topics of vital interest to the alumni, their association,
the Academy, and the naval services
